Transmission Shafts
Cold-drawn bars with tight dimensional tolerances and a smooth surface finish, preferred for shafts that rotate and transmit power.

Properties
Transmission shafts are cold-drawn bars with tight diameter tolerances and a smooth surface. They are commonly made from medium-carbon steels such as C45, which makes them suitable for induction hardening.
Applications
Power transmission shafts, bearing and seal seats, rollers, pins and machine parts that need a precise shaft.
Heat treatment notes
Wearing areas such as bearing seats and seal surfaces are hardened locally by induction while the rest of the shaft stays tough. Run-out on long shafts after hardening is corrected by straightening, and grinding finishes the final size when needed. For bars with lower carbon content, induction suitability depends on the steel grade.
